Walking as Children of Light: Highlights from Accelerate Magazine May 2026

Welcome to our May update! As we move through this year, we are reflecting on the theme of “Clarity”—not just the educational clarity of learning scopes, but the moral and spiritual clarity that shapes the souls of our students.

The Teacher as a Beacon: Walking in the Light

In this month’s lead message, Senior Ps. Slabbert Pretorius explores Ephesians 5:6–10. In a world filled with “empty words” and blurred lines, educators are called to a higher standard. We aren’t just teaching subjects; we are modeling a way of being.

Ps. Pretorius challenges us to be the thermostat, not the thermometer. A thermometer simply reflects the temperature of a rowdy or anxious classroom, but a thermostat sets a new atmosphere through peace and clarity.

The spiritual “Report Card” for our classrooms includes three markers:

  • Goodness: Do students feel cared for as individuals?

  • Righteousness: Is our discipline and grading fair, transparent, and consistent?

  • Truth: Are we teaching with integrity and a bold Biblical worldview?

Kath Farewell

A Change of Seasons: Farewell to Kathy Fisher

After 25 years of dedicated service with A.C.E., our editor Kathy Fisher has announced her retirement this July. Reflecting on Ecclesiastes 3:1, Kathy reminds us that God is the author of every season.

“I thank God that He has taken me on many adventures… my adventures with God are not over, just changing direction.” We thank Kathy for her passion for seeing people fulfill their purpose in God and wish her the richest blessings in this next phase of life.

Unity College

Strengthening the Next Generation: Unity College Australia

As schools plan for long-term sustainability and succession, investing in emerging leaders is essential. Unity College Australia (RTO 6330) delivers nationally recognized qualifications designed specifically for leadership development within Christian education settings.

  • Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB50420): This course is currently running with flexible online delivery options.

  • Accredited Training: These pathways assist in developing leadership capacity and preparing staff for increased responsibility.

  • Get Involved: Submit an Expression of Interest directly at scee.edu.au/unity-college/.

Global Momentum: Focus on Indonesia

This month, we shine a spotlight on the incredible growth in Indonesia, a nation of over 18,000 islands and a vibrant young population.

  • Rhema En Cara School: Founded in 2004, this school has grown from 20 kindergarteners to a full K-12 program. Their logo—the Eagle—represents the strong character that emerges from a life rooted in the Word of God.

  • Life Community School (LCS): Celebrating 16 years in West Jakarta, LCS is pioneering “Real World Science.” Their Eco-Enzyme program was recently featured on national television (Kompas TV)!

Updates from the Media Desk

Our digital presence is more active than ever! Ps. Karl and Ps. Nathan report that we have been “pumping out reels” on Facebook and Instagram.

  • Share Your Story: We want to hear from you! If you have a testimony of what God is doing in your school or a graduate success story, please email your-A.C.E.-story@scee.edu.au.

Procedures Pointers

Stay on top of your Learning Centre standards with our new “Procedures Pointers,” based on the Five Laws of Learning. While these don’t replace formal Staff Training, they serve as vital reminders for daily operations, whether you are in a large school or at a dining table at home.

Stirring Up the Flame: April 2026 Communiqué

April 2026 Communique: Updates & School Resources

April 2026 Communique: Faith, Diligence, and Global Updates

A Spirit of Power, Love, and a Sound Mind

In his second letter to Timothy, the Apostle Paul wrote from a place of deep affection and spiritual urgency. He recognized that Timothy—much like many of us today—was facing a season of fear.

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”2 Timothy 1:7

When we feel the “sour taste of quiet fear” or question our ability to continue, we must remember that God provides more than a pep talk; He provides His actual power. By “stirring up” our spiritual gifts through joyful communion with Him, we find the strength to lead with integrity, the love to serve our students effectively, and the sound mind to remain calm when challenges arise.

Important Global Shipping & Logistics Updates

Global Freight & Fuel Surcharges

Due to volatility in global fuel markets, major carriers (including FedEx and Australia Post) have adjusted their fuel surcharge structures.

  • What to expect: Surcharges are now reviewed as frequently as weekly.

  • Impact: Freight costs may fluctuate between shipments.

  • Advice: Plan orders ahead of time to mitigate the impact of these industry-wide fluctuations.

New Zealand Import Charges

Effective 1 April 2026, the New Zealand Customs Service has introduced a Goods Management Levy.

  • Low-Value Shipments: Imports valued at NZD $1,000 or less will incur a processing charge of approximately NZD $2–$3 per shipment (plus GST).

  • Consignment Rules: Charges apply per shipment, not per order. Note that via Australia Post, each box is often treated as a separate shipment.

Academic Integrity: A.C.E. and Learning Gaps

We have noted an increase in schools bypassing Diagnostic Testing or using “skip PACEs” to rush students through the curriculum. While A.C.E. is an accelerated program, it is built on mastery learning.

  • Sequential Learning: PACEs are designed to be completed in order. Skipping PACEs creates foundational gaps that cause students to fail later tests.

  • Character Building: Allowing a student to skip work because they have fallen behind due to laziness rewards poor behavior.

  • Diagnostic Testing: All new students must be tested and placed at their performance level, not their chronological age.

“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” (Colossians 3:17)

Stirring Up the Flame: April 2026 Communiqué

Stirring Up the Flame: April 2026 Communiqué

“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God…” – 2 Timothy 1:6

In his letter to Timothy, Paul offers a powerful challenge that resonates with every educator today: Live up to your calling. We have all been gifted in unique ways, but the stewardship of those gifts rests with us. Paul tells Timothy to “stir up” the gift—or as other versions say, “fan into flame.”

Think of a cooking fire. When not in use, it smolders to conserve fuel. But when it’s time to work, those embers must be fanned with fresh gusts of air to spring back to life. The Greek tense used here implies continuous action. We must keep fanning that flame!

My question for you today is: Are you tending the fire, or are your embers just smoldering? As educators, we cannot give what we do not have. If your fire isn’t hot, you cannot pass that passion on to your students. Let’s commit to tending our spiritual and professional fires so we can light the way for the next generation.

Webstore Update: Important Notice

Some customers recently received automated webstore login emails in error. This occurred during a data import into our testing environment.

  • Please ignore these emails. This was not the live store, and you cannot place orders there.

  • Data Security: Rest assured, there is no impact on your actual customer accounts or data.

  • The Good News: This means we are getting very close to the official launch! We will send out correct login details once the live store is ready.

Warehouse Closing: Stocktake

The Warehouse will be closed from 29th June – 3rd July 2026 for our end-of-financial-year stocktake.

  • No orders or accounts will be processed during this week.

  • Action Required: Please place any urgent orders early to avoid disappointment.

The Science of Mastery Learning

Why does the PACE system work? Recent research from AERO confirms that Mastery Learning is one of the most effective ways to move knowledge from working memory into long-term memory.

By sequencing tasks so that a student must master one objective before moving to the next, we prevent “cognitive overload.” This approach allows students to build on existing “chunks” of knowledge, making learning more permanent and less stressful. Whether in science, math, or language, mastery learning remains the gold standard for student achievement.

Keep fanning the flame of excellence in your classrooms!

Blessings,

Kathy
